Rarely crowded, its 5-mile length offers uninterrupted views of Maui's South Shore, Molokini, and Kaho'olawe. The waters are perfect for swimming, body surfing, stand-up paddleboard, and fishing. If you head further out from shore there are some coral heads with good snorkeling, although we would recommend other spots on the island for ideal snorkeling. The bay is a favorite hang-out for sea turtles, who can frequently be seen through the crests of waves, or popping their heads up for a breath. In December through April typically, you can also see Humpback whales. Mother whales will often come to the bay with their young calves.
